FANTASTIC FIGHT FOR LCR E-TEAM IN SAN MARINO MOTOE RACE 2

The FIM Enel MotoE World Cup continued here in San Marino this morning, with MotoE riders lining up on the grid for the second race of the weekend. LCR E-Team riders began in the same grid positions as in race 1, with Niccolò Canepa 5th and Randy de Puniet 11th. This race was again held in ideal dry conditions and saw some fantastic racing.

Niccolò Canepa was looking to continue improving after his impressive 5th place finish yesterday and was battling in the top 4 from the start of the race. He spent much of the race in 3rd position, battling with Maria Herrera, before moving up to 2nd towards the end of the race. He continued to battle with other riders to keep his podium position but just missed out in the final corner to cross the line in 4th, only 0.055 seconds away from the rider in 3rd place.

For Randy de Puniet, it was another challenging race although he and the team continue working hard to improve, never giving up until a solution is found. Randy rode well to complete the race in 13th, again finishing in the points.

The podium was very close for LCR E-Team today, so now the team and the riders look to Valencia to hopefully achieve this goal!

Niccolò Canepa – 4th;

“I’m really happy because if somebody told me before this race that I would be fighting for the podium, I would never have believed it! Of course, when I saw that I was 2nd just two corners before the end of the race, I was a bit sad because I could’ve been on the podium. But overall I’m really happy with my improvement, as well as with the work from the team because they did an amazing job to improve the bike and to help me to ride it. We are working in the right direction, I think the step from the beginning of the season to now is huge and I didn’t expect that. We’ll keep working and I know we can still improve something, so we’ll keep trying to get the best result possible in Valencia and finish the championship in a good position.”

Randy De Puniet – 13th;

“Another race and still the same problem; I don’t feel confident with the corner speed, so I lose too much time. We tried a different setting but it was not good for the grip. It’s really difficult because I am trying to find a way to ride this bike but there is something wrong. I need to find a way to resolve this but at the moment it’s hard. I tried to brake earlier but it didn’t make a difference, so we will see if we can improve for Valencia. I will talk with my team, who always try their best to help me, to see what we can do for the next race.”
