GRANADO WINS DRAMATIC RACE 2 AT ASSEN

Eric Granado classified as winner of Race 2 at the Cathedral of Speed after it was red flagged during lap 4 due to Miquel Pons’ crash. Pons is stable and has been taken to the University Medical Center Groningen for further medical checks.

The second race of the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup at TT Circuit Assen was delayed twice and when it finally got underway LCR duo attacked ! Both riders did a great start and there was even a brief battle between them for top 3.

Granado claimed a memorable victory in tricky conditions. Strong from the start, Eric was determined to take the win as he had to set the record straight as he had been left wanting more on Saturday’s race.

Pons, started from P5 of the grid, went as high as 3rd but unfortunately his crashed out and that was the end of his hopes to be back on the podium before the summer break. The race was then red flagged during Lap 4 because he was being attended to at the side of the track.

It was decided that the race would not re-start and half points would be given. Eric Granado is still 2nd in the World Cup, now with 126,5 points.

The LCR E-Team head into the summer break after a very positive first half of the 2022 season. The all-electric class will resume track action at the Red Bull Ring, on August 19-21.
