LCR E-TEAM BEGIN ON-TRACK ACTION IN AUSTRIA

The first and second practice sessions for the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup were completed at the Red Bull Ring in Austria today. Riders were reacquainted with their Energica machines, familiarising themselves with riding their electric machines around this scenic circuit.

LCR E-Team rider Niccolo Canepa was just half a second away from the top 10 in FP1 and finished in a strong 7th place in FP2 after working with the team to improve the feeling with the bike. Meanwhile, Randy de Puniet did not get the chance to improve in FP2 due to some technical issues, though he and the team remain determined to work hard and improve tomorrow. The additional MotoE practice session that has been added to the schedule tomorrow morning will give valuable extra time for improvement.

Niccolò Canepa – 8th:

“I’m really happy, I finished 7th in FP2 and 8th in the combined times so quite a big improvement and a good step. We changed quite a lot on the bike and my feeling was immediately better. I hope we can keep going in this direction for tomorrow and Sunday’s race!”

Randy De Puniet – 18th:

“The morning was normal because I needed to find a rhythm, it was OK, then we decided to make some modifications for the afternoon. Unfortunately, in the afternoon I didn’t feel confident with the front tyre due to some vibration and only did one lap, so I missed the session. It is not ideal to miss a session because I need rhythm and to be more confident on the bike, but we’ll see what happens tomorrow.”
