Casadei commands: podium in the morning, victory in the afternoon!

LCR E-Team rider Mattia Casadei took podium in Race 1 in Portimao, and won the second race.

Reigning MotoE World Champion Mattia Casadei couldn’t have started the season better, and today he’s been the man of the day: he took the third rostrum position in the first race after cleverly handling every lap and clinched victory in the afternoon. Casadei and the LCR E-Team have created a solid bond from the beginning and are pleased with the work done so far.

On the other side of the box, poleman Eric Granado had some lousy luck in Race 1, as after a tremendous performance, he crashed while leading it. In the afternoon, he fought for the top positions and finally crossed the line 4th, grabbing essential points for the Championship.

“I’m thrilled; it’s been an amazing day. I want to thank the team for their incredible job. I felt good on the bike and enjoyed every lap of the two races. The podium this morning was great, but getting the victory in the afternoon was something else. Many thanks to everybody who supported us.”

“I’ve got mixed feelings today. We felt good, started from pole position, and had the potential to fight for the victory or at least the podium. We were unlucky in the morning, as I crashed when I was leading the race. Then, in Race 2, I wanted to fight again, and I finally ended 4th. We’ll try again, as this year we want to do a great job. I thank the team for their job this weekend”.
