PONS TAKES SENSATIONAL SECOND IN WET E-POLE

LCR E-Team rider Miquel Pons came on strong during the E-Pole on Saturday to ensure his first front row start for Sunday’s race in LeMans.

With changing weather conditions throughout the day, the track was dry during the morning session. Miquel Pons managed to finish 11th and teammate Kevin Zannoni improved a little bit his lap time but ended up 16th.

In the afternoon, due to heavy rain, the E-Pole was delayed and modified, but that didn’t stop Pons from finishing 2nd. It was a different kind of E-Pole this time, similar to a MotoGP qualifying session, all riders on track at the same time for 12 minutes.

It was a dramatic E-pole in wet conditions that involved many crashes and yellow flags. Italian rider Kevin Zannoni had managed to end as high as 12th but unfortunately, due to an over take during a yellow flag, his best lap time was cancelled and he classified 17th. He will therefore start the race from the last row of the grid.

Sunday’s schedule has been modified, so make sure you tune in for the second FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup race of the year at 15:30 (GMT +2).
